ESMA’s 8 October 2026 opinion calls for remediation of remaining pre-existing exposures to non-MiCA-compliant stablecoins as soon as possible and within three months of publication. This is not a general EU stablecoin licensing deadline.
Official ESMA opinion ↗The statute specifies the earlier of 18 January 2027 or 120 days after the relevant final federal implementing rules are issued. This date is conditional; recheck the status of final rules before planning against it.
Public Law 119-27 ↗The application period for the new UK cryptoasset regulated activities ends on 28 February 2027, subject to any amended FCA direction.
